Paraxenisthmus cerberusi, a New Species of Xenisthmid Fish from Palau (Percomorpha: Gobioidei)
Paraxenisthmus cerberusi, described from four specimens from Augulpelu Reef, Palau, differs from its only congener (P. springeri from the Solomon Islands) in the following characteristics: pectoral fin rays 15–16 (vs. 18); posterior nasal (B) and ventral preopercular (Q′) cephalic lateralis pores absent (vs. present); head, nape, ventral abdomen, and dorsal midline of caudal peduncle naked (vs. scaled); and caudal peduncle with large black blotch (vs. no black blotch).Abstract
