Pietschichthys horridus
Kharin, 1989: A Junior Synonym of Dermatias platynogaster Smith and Radcliffe, in Radcliffe, 1912 (Lophiiformes: Oneirodidae), with a Revised Key to Oneirodid Genera
Pietschichthys horridus
Kharin, 1989, of the lophiiform suborder Ceratioidei, family Oneirodidae, is shown to be a junior synonym of Dermatias platynogaster Smith and Radcliffe, in Radcliffe, 1912, the latter now known only from the two holotypes, one collected from off the east coast of Luzon in the Philippines, the other from the Magellan Seamounts in the western North Pacific Ocean. The genus and only known species are diagnosed and redescribed, and a revised key to the genera of the Oneirodidae is provided.Abstract
