New Species of Gambusia (Cyprinodontiformes: Poeciliidae) from Del Rio, Texas
Gambusia clarkhubbsi (San Felipe Gambusia) is described from San Felipe Creek, a spring-fed Rio Grande tributary in Del Rio, Texas. The new species is distinguished from other members of the Gambusia nobilis species group by a combination of morphometric and pigmentation characters. It appears to prefer thermally consistent spring flows and is apparently most common in edge habitats adjacent to flowing waters.Abstract
